IMOLA, ITALY

Parker Thompson made the perfect introduction to the FIA World Endurance Championship on Sunday, claiming victory in the LMGT3 class at the 6 Hours of Imola alongside co-drivers Anthony McIntosh and Dan Harper in the #69 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 (Ghost Rider Squad). The win, decided by a margin of just 0.265 seconds over the #33 TF Sport Corvette, stands as one of the five closest finishes in WEC history.

Carrying a striking green, white, and gold livery – tribute to the 1991 Tic Tac BMW E30 raced in DTM — the #69 entry was in contention throughout the race, benefiting from a 4^th place starting position courtesy of strong laps from McIntosh and Thompson in Qualifying and Hyperpole. After an outstanding starting two stints from McIntosh saw the car move into the lead position, Thompson delivered a clean, composed stint at the wheel, recording the team’s fastest lap of the event at 1:42.209. His consistent run left Harper well-positioned for a final push.

Victory truly came into view with 35 minutes remaining, when the pole-sitting Garage 59 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo suffered a sudden loss of electrical power on the start/finish straight. Harper inherited the lead but had little margin for error, navigating a nervy final lap amid fuel concerns and an oncoming challenge from the TF Sport Corvette. Ultimately, he was able to hold the lead and seal the win.

The World Endurance Championship is incredible — the fans here at Imola are second to none and what I got to experience today is truly something that was on my bucket list. It’s not many drivers who can say they won their first FIA WEC race. Team WRT is just second to none. What they do behind the strategy, behind the preparation of the cars, is unbelievable. I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of this.”

The result marks Team WRT’s second LMGT3 victory at Imola in three seasons — a circuit that has become a happy hunting ground for the Belgian outfit. For Thompson, McIntosh, and Harper (dubbed the Ghost Rider Squad) it is a strong indicator for their 2026 season aspirations which already saw the trio take wins in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as part of the Asian Le Mans Series.

Their momentum carries straight into next week as Thompson and McIntosh remain at Imola to contest the Italian Gran Turismo Championship Sprint Series with the #8 Ceccato Racing entry. Thompson then heads to Spa-Francorchamps for Round 2 of the FIA World Endurance Championship, May 9^th, where the #69 will appear in new colors as part of the Iconic World Racepaints Tribute series with WRT and Ghost Rider Squad.

Parker Thompson, Anthony McIntosh, and Dan Harper completed the 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series season as GT Vice-Champions, finishing second in the championship standings with the No. 69 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 EVO.

The trio entered the season finale at Yas Marina Circuit still mathematically alive in the GT title fight. A win in the final race would have given the No. 69 crew a chance to claim the championship. Despite strong pace throughout the four-hour contest, the team ultimately finished 10th in class, bringing their championship campaign to a close just short of the overall class title.

The result came after a race shaped by multiple neutralizations, including a lengthy red-flag stoppage following a major on-track incident. McIntosh delivered an exceptional drive during his stints, but revised drive-time requirements after the interruption created strategic complications late in the race and caused the No. 69 BMW to lose track position.

Even so, the Vice-Championship result underscored the strength of the No. 69 program across the season. Thompson, McIntosh, and Harper came to life with a second-place finish in Round 2 at Sepang before delivering back-to-back victories in Dubai (Round 4) and Abu Dhabi (Round 5), establishing themselves as one of the most competitive lineups in the series.

“Hats off to my teammates and everyone at Team WRT,” said Thompson. “We showed really strong potential with three excellent results this season. For me, this was a great opportunity to learn the BMW M4 GT3 EVO and get to know the people I’ll be working with all year in the World Endurance Championship. I’m very excited to see what we can accomplish there.”

With the Asian Le Mans Series complete, Thompson now turns his attention to a full FIA World Endurance Championship campaign. The 2026 WEC season begins with the Official Prologue at Lusail International Circuit on March 22–23, followed by the Qatar 1812 km on March 28.

Before shifting to WEC competition, however, Thompson will rejoin Bryan Herta Autosport and PR1 Mathiasen Motorsport in the LMP2 class for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, March 18–21.

Thompson continued a strong run of form in the Asian Le Mans Series, earning a second consecutive victory with Team WRT in Round 5 of the championship at Yas Marina Circuit. Driving the No. 69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO alongside Anthony McIntosh and Dan Harper, the trio led a Team WRT 1–2 finish in the GT class.

After a measured opening phase controlled by rival Mercedes-AMG entries, the No. 69 came alive as the race transitioned into the cooler evening conditions. McIntosh delivered a strong opening performance, moving the No. 69 steadily forward from fifth on the grid before handing the car over to Thompson midway through the race.

Taking over in third, Thompson wasted little time making forward progress. He undercut one rival during the pit cycle to move into second before executing a decisive pass for the class lead at Turn 5. With the No. 69 BMW firmly in control, Thompson handed the car to Harper for the final stint, where the British driver brought the car home just 6.8 seconds clear of the sister No. 28 WRT entry.

“Two wins in a row for our No. 69 squad, and an impressive 1–2 result for Team WRT,” said Thompson. “Tony did the bulk of the work here with a strong qualifying run and two clean opening hours, moving us forward without drama. There were some hectic moments for me navigating traffic and pushing into the lead, and Dan once again delivered a solid stint to take us to the checkered flag.”

The victory marked the second straight win for Thompson, McIntosh, and Harper, following their Round 4 triumph in Dubai. While the championship remains a long shot heading into the season finale, the result keeps the No. 69 crew mathematically alive, needing another win in Sunday’s Race 2 alongside a non-scoring finish for the championship-leading Kessel Racing Ferrari.

The final race of the 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series season gets underway Sunday evening at Yas Marina Circuit.

Parker Thompson claimed his first victory of the 2026 season with Team WRT, capturing the GT class win in Round 4 of the Asian Le Mans Series at Dubai Autodrome. Thompson shared the driving duties in the No. 69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO with Anthony McIntosh and Dan Harper, rebounding from a Saturday retirement to stand atop the podium in Sunday’s four-hour race.

The No. 69 WRT entry ran among the leaders throughout the event, battling head-to-head with the No. 87 Origine Motorsport Porsche in a closely contested GT field. After dramatic early-race incidents eliminated several contenders, the fight for victory came down to the closing hour, with Harper ultimately taking the checkered flag just 0.881 seconds clear of Laurin Heinrich.

McIntosh delivered two strong opening stints to position the BMW solidly inside the top three before Thompson took over during the third hour. Thompson quickly worked his way into second place, closing the gap to the leader and setting the stage for the winning move before handing the car over to Harper for the final push to the finish.

“After a tough first day yesterday, we bounced back to take the win today, and I’m really proud of our effort,” said Thompson. “Tony drove incredible, and Dan closed it out under a lot of pressure. I’m super proud of this group. This win also marks Team WRT’s first victory in the Asian Le Mans Series, which makes it even more special to help such an accomplished team earn a new accolade. Now it’s on to Abu Dhabi to close out the season with Rounds 5 and 6 next weekend.”

The victory follows a strong second-place finish for the trio in Round 2 at Sepang in December and keeps the No. 69 crew firmly in the championship conversation heading into the Asian Le Mans Series finale at Yas Marina Circuit.
